Ten things to consider, or not do, while shopping for school clothes, and preparing your outfits for the first days of school. Here is part one, the first five! School essentials to come later!
1. Don’t start something you can’t finish.
The thing is, people generally start the school year with great outfits, that are perfectly accesorized and brand new. But then, after about 3 days (max!) they are in their hoodies and flip flops, which would be fine if they had customized Zip Hoodies that looked good.
2. Don’t impulse buy!
Seriously, don’t. Buyers remorse can be a brutal thing. Sure, you may be excited about a dress or top or whatever that you think is really cute, but then you get home and realize that you don’t have anything to wear it with and it doesn’t fit as well as you thought.
3. Try something new
Probably said this way to many times, but school shopping is a great time to try something new. You don’t have to go out and spend a ton of money, either. Try some neon nail polish. If you don’t like it, you are probably only out a few bucks, anyway. and it’s sure to add some cute color to your outfits if you do like it!
4. Think classic pieces, and in style pieces
Don’t just spend all your money on the ‘cool’ things. Chances are, they won’t be ‘cool’ for long anyway. Spend your money on classic pieces that will always work for you, and then spend a little of pieces that may go out of style. Balance is key.
5. Consider borrowing from a guy.
That’s weird, you may say. But hello, boyfriend blazer? Boyfriend jeans? Ok, so maybe it doesn’t neccesarily have to be from a boy. But take inspiration! I’ll admit, recently I got a guys sweater. I can explain! For one, it was so much more comfortable, it was warm, and to tell the truth, it was a bit girly as far as guys sweaters go. So there. Consider it!
Seriously, consider all of these things in part one!
