Next up? Paris.
Real talk: Paris was not my favorite city. You can’t ignore that magical, “anything is possible” feeling, for sure. The buildings are magnificently beautiful, the history is incredible, and wandering the streets of the Latin Quarter simply feels freeing. And yet…it felt dirtier than I had remembered, and riding the packed metros, especially with a group of girls, was more frustrating and gross than exciting. Then again, I live in Los Angeles so I really can’t be judging the cleanliness of a city. I digress. But of course, at the end of the day, Paris is Paris, and no matter what, will always hold a little bit of magic for me.
Because I had been to Paris almost 5 years ago, this time around I took the opportunity to focus on the details of Paris I may have missed before. While I still took an obnoxious amount of photos of the Eiffel Tower, and made sure to seek out some of the classic sights (Notre Dame, the Louvre, Arc de Triomphe) I also looked for quiet alleys, interesting shops, and the best bread in Paris, taking time to get lost somewhere in the cobbled streets in Montmartre (hello, cute pink building!) and look up at little slices of sky peaking through old restaurant buildings. Paris, you are charming.
And that’s that! Read all the Europe recaps here, and I look forward to sharing more of my trip with you lovely people.
