What’s up, friends!
What’s good?! As I prepare to head back to Canada for the second summer of guiding backpacking trips with Young Life, I found that I could not maintain a decent level of self care while trying to juggle everything that I was. And long story short there went the past two months of (not) blogging. Of course, when the creative spirit does finally decide to hit ya, you can’t turn it away, and plus – I never could say no to the creation of a mood board for a new season. There’s something that is really inspiring to me about getting to collect and curate into one cohesive piece.
This season…and next.
I find myself soaking in simple color palettes and simple layers – oh, how ready I am to wear a dress with bare legs, you guys! I’m also really living off of that reminder, “Peace be still”. It helps in the midst of busyness and chaos, focusing me and reminding me that it’s important to prioritize rest and stillness, no matter how fast the world seems to spin around me. And boy, does it spin pretty fast sometimes. In the coming month or so…
- I’ll be wrapping up two years of work as a graphic designer at my current job
- I’ll leave for another summer of mountain guiding in June
- Besides some travel after the summer, I’ll be returning to the US with…no plan. At least not really. And it’s awesome and a little scary, but mostly very freeing as I get a whole summer to dream about what life will look like upon coming home. I have so many big ideas, non-traditional routes bouncing around in my head, and while the fear of the unknown is/can be a very real thing, I feel a surprising amount of peace and sense of adventure as I get to choose + create a life that is not tied to what is usually “expected” or deemed “traditional” if that’s not where I feel I’m being led for the time being (i.e. – dream job, 2.5 kids, white picket fence, you get the vibe)
How ya been?
Ok, but what about you? I hope this spring has been sweet for all of you! I’ve definitely missed my regular blog reading, although Instagram helps me keep up with so many of you, and am really looking forward to doing some catching up. I’ll be back on this space (and in the land of internet/cell service/general civilization as a whole) until about mid June…then, it’s back to that 3 month summer hiatus (read about last years here and here and here). It’s good to be back on this space, at least for a bit. Happy spring, friends! PS: bonus points if you get the “it’s gonna be may” reference 😉
